     ANSI B18.2.1 bolts have a simple connection structure, good mechanical properties during use, can be disassembled, can also resist fatigue, and have no looseness during dynamic loading. It is a very popular product. There are actually two types of ANSI B18.2.1 bolts: friction and pressure.

     Do not assume that ANSI B18.2.1 bolts are made by different processes. Therefore, its product performance is good, it will not be anti-corrosion and anti-rust treatment. In fact, they must be protected against corrosion and rust. We must pay attention to it to improve their service life. Let us now talk about the factors that will prevent injury from corrosion and rust.

1. In contaminated air (such as an atmosphere containing a large amount of sulfide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen monoxide), sulfuric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid are formed in the condensed water, which causes chemical corrosion.

2. The surface of stainless steel screws is covered with organic juice (such as melon, vegetables, noodle soup, oysters, etc.). Under the conditions of water and oxygen, an organic acid is formed, and the organic acid corrodes the metal surface for a long time.

3. Attach dust or foreign metal particles, connect them to a microbattery in humid air, attached matter and condensed water of a stainless steel screw to initiate an electrochemical reaction and destroy the protective film. This is called electrochemical corrosion.

4. The attachment of the stainless steel surface contains acid, alkali and salt (such as alkaline water and lime water splashed on the decorative wall), causing local corrosion.

    In addition to corrosion and rust protection, the coefficient of friction has a large effect on the load carrying capacity of ANSI B18.2.1 bolted joints. It is proved by experiments and other methods that the main friction coefficient is affected by the shape of the contact plane and the factors of the material of the component. In order to increase the coefficient of friction of the contact surface, sandblasting and wire brush cleaning are typically used to treat the contact surfaces of the components within the joint region.
